Are you in a mental health crisis?

Therapy Assistance Online

Mental health shouldn’t feel out of reach. Huron’s partnership with TAO provides online and mobile tools to help you conquer the day-to-day struggles around general stressors like anxiety and depression, or specific troubles like relationships and addiction.

Each treatment program in TAO consists of 6-7 highly engaging educational modules, including interactive activities to help you learn strategies and skills. Typically, a program can be completed within 6 to 9 weeks when committing about 15 minutes a day. And if focused problems unexpectedly surface, such as anxiety & stress, you can always access individual modules to reinforce what you have learned.

What is TAO?

It may be helpful to think of TAO as an online library of engaging, interactive programs to learn life skills and to help you bounce back from disappointments or stumbling blocks in life. As you watch videos and engage with our interactive components, you’ll gain the knowledge, self-awareness, and skills you need to achieve your goals.

TAO includes over 150 brief, effective, educational sessions covering over 50 common topics and skills related to mental health, wellness, and substance use issues. TAO includes interactive sessions, mindfulness exercises and practice tools all aimed at helping you achieve your goals.

You can complete TAO at your own pace, whether that’s just one session a day, or perhaps two whole modules. It’s entirely up to you.

USING TAO YOU WILL LEARN FROM DIFFERENT MODULES YOU CHOSE TO USE!
SOME OF THESE MODULES INCLUDE:

Stress and Coping with Stressful Situations

The modules on stress focus on reducing tension and worry as well as developing resilience (in other words, successfully adapting). Learn how to pay attention to feelings, change unhelpful thinking, practice mindfulness, and learn relaxation strategies. Topics include General Stress and Worry; Healing After a Break-Up; Grief and Loss; and more!

Resilience, Grit, Personal Strength

Resilience is the psychological concept of successfully processing and adapting to change and stress. These sessions will guide you to a place where you can begin to accept and embrace your life fully – even its challenges. Improving your abilities to accept and adapt to unexpected events in your life can lead to a marked improvement in both functioning and mood. In addition to learning mindfulness techniques that allow you to practice being in the present moment, you will also begin to clarify and understand your own personal values and identify problematic areas. Topics include Imposter Syndrome; Perfectionism; Performance; Resilience; and more!

Relationships and Communication

Relationships can be challenging sometimes. This pathway will help you understand how to improve your relationships by building communication skills, learning to recognize unhealthy relationship behaviors, and finding ways to manage anger. You’ll also learn how to respond more effectively to others.

Anxiety, Worry, Specific Fears

In these sessions, you will learn to recognize and understand how your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviours. By learning to catch negative thoughts and consider them in a more positive light, you will find that you begin to act with greater confidence. As you realize you have control over your thoughts, you’ll worry less about the challenges ahead, knowing that you have the ability to persist through difficulties. Topics include General Anxiety; Social Anxiety; Test Anxiety; Fears; Trauma and more!

Depression

When life feels low, it’s easy to think negatively. This pathway will encourage you to find ways to think more positively; in doing so, you’ll notice that you may not feel quite as blue anymore. As you learn to pay attention to your thoughts and find ways to view situations in a more constructive light, you’ll find that your behaviors become more positive as well. Courses include Acceptance and Commitment for Depression, Sadness, Discouragement; Behaviour Activation; CBT for Depression and more!

Substance Use

It’s good to evaluate how substances may be impacting our lives. These sessions are intended to provide education and promote reflection on our current levels of substance use. The content will provide you with the opportunity to learn and evaluate when alcohol and drug use may be a problem and to build communication and relationship skills to support your journey. Topics include Evaluating Alcohol and Drug Use; Recovery Skills; and Substance Use Education.
